CGTN PLA military exercises around Taiwan Island have become routine since 2022

The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army has launched new drills around Taiwan Island. China says the exercises serve as a stern warning to “Taiwan Independence” separatist forces and external interference.

The PLA has conducted such drills regularly since 2022. CGTN’s Sun Tianyuan reports live from Pingtan in southeast China’s Fujian Province, the closest point on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan.
