CGTN On site: Firefighters battling major blaze at Hong Kong residential estate

A major blaze has gutted seven of the eight residential blocks in a Tai Po housing estate in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). According to CGTN correspondent Anne Cheng, firefighting operations are ongoing, with extensive resources deployed including 11 water jets, eight ladder trucks, 26 search and rescue teams and more than 1,200 fire and ambulance personnel scrambled to the scene. In response to the emergency, authorities have opened eight temporary shelters and set up shuttle buses in the Tai Po area. HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee has suspended Legislative Council election promotions and forums to enable the government to concentrate fully on the emergency response and rescue efforts. #HK #hongkong #fire
