CGTN National Guard member dies in Washington shooting; suspect linked to U.S. forces

On November 27, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of two National Guard members shot near the White House on November 26, has died. Trump said the other guardsman, Andrew Wolfe, is in critical condition and fighting for his life, while the suspect is also in serious condition.

The suspect, identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national, had worked with U.S. partner forces during the war in Afghanistan. Investigators are now examining this aspect of his background as part of a broader international terrorism investigation.
