Kinetica-2 delivers Qingzhou prototype test spacecraft to orbit

Take a look at this breathtaking moment of the Kinetica-2 rocket’s maiden flight!

China’s Kinetica-2 Y1 rocket lifted off on Monday from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Pilot Zone in northwest China, sending three satellites, including the New March-02 Satellite, also known as the Qingzhou prototype test spacecraft, into the planned orbit.

The Qingzhou prototype test spacecraft weighs just 4.2 tonnes. Designed for future resupply missions to China’s Tiangong space station, the Qingzhou spacecraft is lightweight, agile and cost-effective.

The Kinetica-2 is China’s first rocket to adopt a Common Booster Core (CBC) configuration. Developed by Chinese commercial space firm CAS Space, it has a liftoff thrust of 753 tonnes and can deliver up to 12 tonnes to a 200-kilometer low Earth orbit.
