CGTN Japanese scholar criticizes Takaichi’s ‘extremely reckless’ remarks

Shigeaki Koga, a Japanese political and economic commentator, recently pointed out that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s Taiwan-related remarks deviate from her country’s long-standing position of recognizing and respecting the one-China principle. He criticized Takaichi for expanding the scope of collective self-defense under the vague pretext of a “survival-threatening crisis,” calling it explicitly unconstitutional. He further noted that her refusal to admit mistakes mirrors the mentality of Japan’s right-wing forces, who deny historical wrongdoings.
