CGTN Islamic State releases video claiming attack on Niger air base

The Islamic State group has released a video it shows an attack on an air force base at Niger’s main airport in the capital, Niamey.

The footage, distributed by the group’s propaganda arm Amaq News Agency, purports to show explosions, gunfire and aircraft on fire during what it described as a surprise and coordinated assault. Nigerien authorities say four soldiers were injured in the attack, with several military and civilian aircraft damaged. State television reported that security forces later killed 20 attackers and arrested 11 others.
