The Fire Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) announced in the early hours of November 28 that firefighting operations had been completed and that full-scale rescue efforts were underway. Personnel will continue searching all residential units to ensure no additional individuals remain trapped.

According to the department’s update, the fire has resulted in 94 fatalities.

The HKSAR government has opened nine temporary shelters, now accommodating more than 500 residents. Following the incident, government departments, together with all sectors of society, have been stepping up efforts to assist affected residents.
