CGTN China’s booming offshore wind industry unlocks billions in business opportunities #coolchina

China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) is driving major offshore wind expansion, aiming to double capacity to over 100 GW. Yangjiang in Guangdong Province hosts a key manufacturing base and massive offshore projects with giant turbines installed far out at sea. The boom is forecast to generate about 170 billion yuan for turbines, 220 billion yuan for marine equipment, and 5,000 kilometers of submarine cables. The industry is also scaling up equipment, with larger cranes and 20 MW+ turbines – a sign of rapid technological growth.
