CGTN 2026 Spring Festival rush: 540 million passenger trips expected, ‘land aircraft carrier’ in action

The 2026 railway Spring Festival travel rush in China officially kicked off on February 2.

Running from February 2 to March 13, China’s railways are expected to carry 540 million passenger trips, averaging 13.48 million trips per day, a 5 percent increase compared with last year.

China’s high-speed rail, known as the “land aircraft carrier,” is once again mobilized for action.
