Cannabis fight continues in Minnesota community
The first business licensed to retail cannabis in Minnesota is still fighting for the right to open in the city of Albert Lea.
A judge ordered the city to issue a license to Jacob Schlichter or explain why it is violating its own ordinance at an Oct. 13 hearing. City manager Ian Rigg tells FOX9 they’re not issuing a license.
The judge indicated Schlichter had suffered financial injury, and he’ll ask for damages. Outside lawyers were hired by the city’s liability insurance company and Rigg says the city hasn’t received any bills yet, so the cost to taxpayers is unknown.
