Canadian ambassador praises Mexico’s cartel fight for ‘producing results’ | Power & Politics
As thousands of Canadians remain stranded by cancelled flights after a Mexican military raid that killed a drug lord and triggered a surge of cartel violence, Canada’s Ambassador to Mexico Cameron MacKay says the situation is stabilizing and there’s ‘no need’ to airlift Canadians out as ‘there’s more than enough capacity on the commercial side.’ Asked about the lack of warning Ottawa says it received from Mexico, MacKay says ‘we understand’ that few people could know about the operation to execute it.
