Iran has launched an attack on U.S. installations at the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. In this attack, the U.S. AN/TPY-2 radar stationed at the air base was destroyed. This radar constitutes a critical component of the THAAD missile defense system. Satellite imagery of the attack has also surfaced, clearly revealing scorch marks on the base as well as structural damage. The magnitude of this loss for the United States can be gauged by the fact that this antenna alone is valued at approximately $500 million.
