In Malda—a district where Muslims constitute 51 percent of the electorate—the biggest challenge lies before Mausam Noor, who recently defected from the TMC to join the Congress. Mausam Noor is the Congress candidate for the Maltipur constituency. She, too, is making the issue of the SIR (Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls) a central campaign theme. Mausam Noor has stated that if the election needs to be postponed to ensure the inclusion of genuine voters, then it should indeed be deferred. However, she noted that the BJP would not allow this to happen, as their sole objective behind this stance is to polarize the election. Nevertheless, this time around, the Muslim electorate has seen through the maneuvers of both Mamata and the BJP.
