मतुआ समुदाय का असर बंगाल की करीब 45 सीटों पर है. बीस से पच्चीस सीटें ऐसी हैं जिनपर हार जीत का फैसला मतुआ समाज के वोट से होता है इसलिए ममता ने मुसलमानों के साथ मतुआ समुदाय की बात की. बीजेपी भी ममता का इरादा समझ रही है. इसीलिए सुवेन्दु अधिकारी ने तुरंत जबाव दिया. सुवेंदु ने कहा कि मतुआ समाज हिंदू है और बीजेपी किसी भी हिंदू को बंगाल से बाहर नहीं जाने देगी.
The Matua community holds sway over approximately 45 seats in Bengal. There are 20 to 25 such seats where the outcome—victory or defeat—is determined by the votes of the Matua community; this is precisely why Mamata addressed the Matua community alongside the Muslim community. The BJP, too, has grasped Mamata’s strategy. Consequently, Suvendu Adhikari issued an immediate response. Suvendu asserted that the Matua community is Hindu and that the BJP will not allow a single Hindu to be driven out of Bengal.
