Bagram Showdown: India, China, Pakistan Unite Against Trump As US’ Afghanistan Obsession Turns Ugly
President Trump’s effort to reclaim Afghanistan’s Bagram airbase from the Taliban has spectacularly backfired, with India, China, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, and other regional powers issuing a united rebuke to U.S. military ambitions in the region. At the Moscow Format meeting, these countries called any foreign military deployment in Afghanistan “unacceptable” and urged respect for Afghan sovereignty, effectively isolating Washington and highlighting its diminishing influence in Central Asia. The Taliban, now firmly in control of Bagram and backed by neighboring powers, rejected Trump’s demand outright, citing territorial integrity and stability.
