Artemis II reveals what cameras miss in space: Astrophysicist
NASA’s Artemis II mission made history on Monday (Apr 6), sending astronauts farther from Earth than ever before as they flew around the Moon’s far side. Why are crewed space missions still so critical? Brad Tucker, astrophysicist and cosmologist at the Australian National University’s Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, tells CNA’s Asia First that the human eye can observe details cameras miss, including subtle colour differences and real-time meteor impacts on the Moon. He adds that the mission is a key test for future space exploration, including upcoming lunar landings and missions to Mars.
