Zelenskyy, attended a virtual meeting with Trump accompanied by Gemany’s Merz ahead of the All-Important Trump-Putin meet. The Ukrainian Prez hit out at the Russian Prez warning Trump that Putin was “bluffing” about ending war. Zelenskyy called for a trilateral meeting with Trump and Merz, emphasizing Kyiv’s inclusion. Zelenskyy hoped the upcoming Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska would focus on a ceasefire. Meanwhile, NATO’s Rutte praised Trump’s leadership, saying “the ball was now in Putin’s court”. EU’s von der Leyen highlighted strong Europe-US-NATO coordination for a just, lasting peace. Merz insisted Ukraine must be at the negotiation table; ‘ceasefire first, borders respected’, he emphasized.
