‘Will take firm, appropriate measures…’, China’s strong warning to US to safeguard trade interests
If the U.S. is determined to go its own way, China will take firm and appropriate measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, the Chinese foreign ministry said on October 13. China urged the U.S. to promptly correct its “wrong practices,” ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said during a regular press briefing when asked about Trump’s plan to impose additional 100% tariffs on Chinese goods on November 1. Both sides should resolve respective concerns through dialogue, properly manage differences, and safeguard the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations, Lin added.
