US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrives in Mexico for bilateral security talks | Border talks
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Mexico on Tuesday (September 2) as part of a regional tour to address drug trafficking, fentanyl smuggling, and illegal immigration with Mexican officials.
Rubio was welcomed by Mexican Foreign Minister Ramon de la Fuente at the airport, marking the start of a two-day visit to Mexico City, according to the U.S. State Department.
The visit includes a meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and a joint press conference with De la Fuente, focusing on binational efforts to dismantle cartels and curb illegal migration.
After Mexico, Rubio is scheduled to travel to Quito, Ecuador, to continue discussions on regional security and migration issues.
