US Prez Trump to travel to South Korea, meet China’s Xi & N. Korea’s Kim after ‘conspiracy’ remark
U.S. President Trump and his top aides are expected to travel to S. Korea this year in October. Trump is expected to travel to S. Korea for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. He is also expected to hold serious discussion & bilateral talks with Xi, as CNN reported on Sept 07, citing Trump admin’s officials. As per CNN’s report, the Summit would take place in Gyeongju b/w late October-early November. The Gyeongju APEC summit is being viewed as key opportunity for Trump-Xi meeting. CNN highlighted, Xi, in a telephonic conversation has invited Trump and his wife to China; Though, Trump reciprocated, but no visit dates are set as yet. The officials said that they are also viewing this trip as an opportunity for Trump to secure additional investment in U.S. Trump’s S. Korea visit may lead to a meeting with Kim Jong Un, though Kim’s attendance remains uncertain. During the S. Korean Prez Lee Jae Myung’s visit to U.S. last week, he invited Trump to attend APEC Summit. While addressing reporters earlier in the day, Trump said he was willing to meet with Kim. This expected visit of Trump to S. Korea comes at the helm of US’ fragile relationship with both Kim and Xi. Washington seemed upset over recently concluded SCO Summit in Tianjin earlier this month. During SCO Summit, PM Modi, Russian Prez Putin and China’s Xi were seen together, and Trump was quick to criticize the meeting.
