Typhoon Bualoi wreaks havoc in Vietnam; Local resident recount ‘terrifying’ night of landfall
Eight people died and 17 others went missing after Typhoon Bualoi hit Vietnam on Sept 29, damaging homes & knocking out power grids. The storm brought floods and huge swells before weakening as it moved toward Laos, leaving a trail of destruction in its path. Residents said they stayed awake the whole night fearing the door would be pulled off by strong winds as the storm raged. By 11 a.m. local time, Typhoon Bualoi weakened to 74 kph as it moved over Nghe An province toward Laos, the weather agency said. Bualoi has so far damaged 245 houses, inundated nearly 1,400 hectares of rice and other crops, and cut off access to several areas
