Trump’s direct warning to Taliban, as he seeks control of Bagram airbase in Afghanistan
US President Trump’s direct warning to Taliban as he demanded Bagram airbase’s control back. BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN: Said Trump ‘if Afghanistan doesn’t give Bagram Airbase back. In his recent post on Truth Social, Trump unleashed the threat after Afghanistan denied to give up control over Bagram. Earlier, in joint press conference with UK PM Starmer, Trump disclosed his will to take back control of Bagram airbase. “We were going to leave Afghanistan, but with strength & dignity”, Said Trump in the joint presser during UK state visit. In response to Trump’s remark, Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry condemned US’ military presence in their country. “Afghanistan and the United States need to engage with one another…”, Said official Zakir Jalaly, “…but without the United States having any military presence in any part of Afghanistan”, he added. Bagram airbase hold a significant place by virtue of its location, giving direct access to Central Asia & beyond. As Trump put it, Bagram airbase is just ‘an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons’. This ensures United States’ strong presence in the area of Chinese influence, making it even more important for the US.
