Trump accuses China of ‘sinister trade move’ over rare earths export, warns of ‘big tariff hikes’
Trump made serious allegations against China claiming that the Dragon is sending letters worldwide, proposing export controls on rare earths. The 47th US President heavily criticised the alleged move “hostile” and market-disruptive on Oct 10. He accused Prez Xi of wanting to monopolize rare earth elements like magnets could “clog markets”. Trump also cancelled his meeting with the Chinese Counterpart citing the surprise nature of China’s actions. US further signalled potential massive tariff hike on Chinese imports further warning of multiple financial countermeasures. Emphasizing U.S. strength, Trump says America holds even stronger monopoly positions on key resources but had “never chosen to use them — until now”.
