Russia launches massive drone and missile attack on Kyiv, causing deaths and widespread damage
A massive overnight Russian attack targeted Kyiv with around 500 drones and over 40 missiles, marking one of the largest assaults on the Ukrainian capital since the full-scale war began. The bombardment caused widespread destruction, including damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. At least four people were killed, including possibly a 12-year-old girl, and around ten were injured. Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a fire broke out at a state cardiological hospital due to the attack. Residents endured hours of anti-aircraft fire and explosions, later cleaning shattered glass from their homes while emergency services extinguished multiple fires. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, highlighting the severe toll on the city and surrounding areas. Independent monitors confirmed the scale of the bombardment as one of the most intense since the conflict escalated, underscoring the ongoing threat faced by Kyiv and its citizens.
