Kulgam Scientist Zahoor Ahmad Reshi successfully cultivates Saffron in Kulgam
Zahoor Ahmad Reshi, an agriculture scientist from Kulgam district, has successfully developed high-quality saffron in his field. Conducted on a trial basis, his experiment has yielded promising results, marking a significant achievement in saffron cultivation outside traditional growing areas. For decades, it was widely believed that saffron could grow only in Karewas of Pampore, the historic heartland of world’s most expensive spice. But, Zahoor Reshi has dispelled that long-standing perception through his extensive scientific research and field trials. Notably, Reshi has started his experiment a two years ago with a trial of Bioponics. In addition to this, he also set up a field trial to see the crop grow in Kulgam’s unique weather and soil conditions.
