Jimmy Kimmel’s show to return to ABC, following a week suspension amid controversy
Following row over comments made on Charlie Kirk, the Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly said to return back on-air. Disney will bring back Jimmy Kimmel Live six days after suspending it due to controversy over comments on Charlie Kirk. The suspension followed Kimmel’s remarks on Kirk’s assassination, which drew a threat from a top U.S. communications official, reported Reuters. The FCC head reportedly warned ABC after Kimmel’s joke about the political leanings of Kirk’s alleged shooter. Disney said it paused the show “to avoid further inflaming a tense situation” during a sensitive national moment. Meanwhile, Prez Trump denied involvement pressurised ABC to suspend late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and instead blamed Kimmel’s ratings. Charlie Kirk was shot on Sept 10 while speaking at a Utah university; Kimmel joked about the shooter’s political views. On Sept 19, Kimmel supporters gathered outside Disneyland in Anaheim to protest suspension of his late-night show.
