J&K: Birla School Pampore students shine at Jaipur Youth Parliament; Call for United Policy on PoK
Pampore: In a powerful display of youth leadership and civic awareness, three students from Birla School Pampore made a remarkable impact at the Youth Parliament held in Jaipur this week. The students passionately voiced pressing national concerns earning praise for their clarity, courage and commitment. One of the standout issues raised was the reclamation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The students firmly advocated for a united national policy to address the long-standing territorial issue emphasizing the importance of diplomatic and strategic measures in safeguarding India’s sovereignty. The students also took a bold stand on consumer rights and ethical advertising, delivering a hard hitting critique of surrogate advertising, a strategy often used to subtly promote products like alcohol and tobacco through glamorous branding. They argued that such advertisements mislead the public, especially the youth, by glamorizing addiction and unhealthy lifestyles. The delegation didn’t shy away from holding influential figures accountable. They highlighted the role of sports personalities and film stars in promoting harmful or discriminatory products. With fame comes responsibility.one student asserted. Celebrities must stop endorsing items that can harm public health or reinforce negative stereotypes.In a well-articulated appeal to the government, the students demanded mandatory pre-verification of advertisements to ensure truthfulness, fairness, and compliance with public health standards. They stressed that such a measure would protect consumer rights and build a more ethical advertising ecosystem.
