Indian Mining Summit’25: Experts highlight prospects of India’s growth in mining sector
CII National Committee on Mining, Arun Misra in an event ‘India Mining Summit 2025’ described future plan in mining sector of India. He informed that China controls 80% balance of magnet made from ‘permanent magnets’ followed by USA & Australia. He added, India has 1/3 of world’s total monazite deposit, mostly in sea & landlocked places. Notably, GoI has come out with the policy on small nuclear reactor as technology. Misra further described the production & processing of small nuclear reactor as technology. It is important to note that US also looking for zinc-based batteries for their defense applications because they don’t want to be tied up by China for lithium. Arun Misra, said ‘although there are few blocks in India declared for lithium’. Lithium founds in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and some in J&K, but the probability of finding the actual resource is quite less. Misra informed that, ‘China has already started commercial production of sodium ion batteries’.
