“India is very important part”: India’s UNSC bid soar as UN Secy-Gen pushes for 21st-century reforms
UN Secretary-General Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said on India’s role in UN, ‘I think India is a very important part of the United Nations system. They are a great supporter of multilateralism. And the Secretary General has, I think, very lot of very good relations with the Indian government. We have a lot of Indian colleagues who work here with us, and India is an important voice within the UN system.’
On India’s Bid for permanent seat at UNSC he said, ‘The Secretary General is very supportive of the reform of the Security Council again to make it more representative of the world of 2025, as opposed to the world of 1945. Now which countries will sit on a revitalized Security Council, which countries will have a permanency that will be up to member states to decide.’
