ICCR Troupe Stages Kathakali at Nepal’s Patan Durbar on India’s 79th I-Day
Marking the 79th Independence Day of India, a dance troupe from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) presented a Kathakali performance at the historic Patan Durbar Square in Nepal. The event was organized by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center (SVCC) in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Nepal. Nine artists took the stage to showcase the classical art form, with its themes rooted in the epic tales of the Mahabharat. Kathakali, renowned for its vibrant costumes, intricate gestures, and expressive storytelling, captivated the audience in the ancient palace courtyard. The celebration was attended by several senior political leaders and dignitaries, underscoring the cultural bond between India and Nepal.
