Former Andhra CM Reddy blames govt’s ‘negligence’ after Srikakulam stampede; CM Naidu orders relief
A tragic stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, claimed nine lives and left several others injured during the Ekadashi celebrations on Saturday. Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock and grief over the incident, calling it heartbreaking that devotees lost their lives. He urged the government to extend full support to the bereaved families and ensure proper medical care for the injured, while also criticising the administration for failing to take adequate precautions despite repeated tragedies. Current Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also expressed condolences and grief over the loss of lives, stating on X that he had directed officials to provide immediate relief and medical treatment to those affected. Police and emergency services acted swiftly to bring the situation under control, and authorities have initiated measures to assist victims and investigate the cause of the stampede.
