Delhi chokes as Air Quality Index continue to deteriorate in NCR as winter approaches
The Air Quality Index of National Capital of Delhi continue to deteriorate as city approaches winter. Industrial smoke, Diwali crackers, vehicles release, all mixed with winter mist adds up to the pollution in NCR. Since Diwali, Delhi’s AQI as recorded by Central Pollution Control Board remains to be in ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ category. Anand Vihar, Wazirpur, Kartavya Path, Somnath Marg, Jahangirpuri, ITO are among the worst affected. Truck-mounted water sprinklers were deployed at several areas in the national capital to combat air pollution. CAQM banned entry of all BS-III and below standard commercial goods vehicles that are not registered in Delhi. Despite all the efforts, India Gate continue to hide behind curtains of smog, while residents begin to complain. New Delhi Municipal Council has already announced GRAP stage 2 doubling parking fees across city.
