Chicago Mayor demands UNHRC’s investigation on human right ‘crisis’ in US under Trump’ admin
On Nov 07, Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson urged UNHRC to investigate Human rights crisis. Brandon Johnson has invited UNHRC to examine the “worsening human rights crisis” in US. He accused Trump administration of evading ‘accountability’ and ‘failing to meet basic expectations of transparency & accountability’. Chicago Mayor Johnson targeted Trump over National Guard deployment in US cities. Earlier in October, Trump launched “Operation Midway Blitz” deportation drive in Chicago Under this operation, Trump sent hundreds of National Guard troops on Illinois streets. Mayor Johnson mentioned families “torn apart by immigration raids” of Trump’s admin. Calling for international oversight, he told the council “No country should be above international law”.
