Ahead of the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting in Washington, Russian President Putin dialled his ‘friend’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the telephonic conversation, ‘friend’ Putin updated Modi on his assessment of his Alaska meeting with Trump. In the call, PM Modi highlighted India’s consistent stance for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and reaffirmed India’s support for all efforts in this regard. The two leaders discussed various issues of bilateral cooperation to strengthen their special and strategic partnership and agreed to stay in close touch. Taking to ‘X’, PM Modi thanked Putin for the updates and reaffirmed India’s consistent call for a peaceful resolution through diplomacy and dialogue. PM Modi further stated that he ‘looks forward to continuing further exchanges in the days to come’. This development, ahead of the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting at the White House, further highlights India’s strong, longstanding partnership with Russia.
