Bhai Tika Festival: Nepal & Burma Celebrate Sibling Bonds
The festival of Bhai Tika, the final day of Yama Panchak, brought together siblings in Nepal and Burma, celebrating the enduring bond between brothers and sisters. For Ramesh Gautam from Bharatpur, this year was extra special as he observed the ritual for the first time—donning a Dhaka topi, seven-colored tika, and marigold garland. Observed on Shukla Dwitiya of Kartik, Bhai Tika is celebrated with deep devotion as sisters pray for their brothers’ longevity, health, and prosperity. Also known as Yama Dwitiya, the festival symbolizes love, unity, and the timeless strength of sibling ties.
