ANI News US claims Iran laid underwater mines in Strait of Hormuz amid talks, top officials inform CBS

Latest development came in escalating Middle East conflict as U.S. made big claim against Iran. Trump administration has repeatedly demanding Iran to maintain flow of commerce in the chokepoint of Strait of Hormuz. Now, as per CBS News citing US official, ‘there are at least a dozen underwater mines through the vital passageway’. The ‘CBS News’ reported this latest update amidst ongoing Iran war citing current American intelligence assessments. Officials added, mines bring laid in Strait of Hormuz are Iranian-manufactured Maham-3 & Maham-7 Limpet Mine, CBS reported. Notably, according to CBS News another U.S. official said the ‘count was less than a dozen’. Meanwhile, Trump backed off his threat to “obliterate” power plants if Iran continued to block the strait. On being asked about the control of Hormuz by reporter, Trump responded Strait of Hormuz might be jointly controlled by him ‘and the Ayatollah’. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global chokepoint, handling approximately 20% of global daily oil consumption. Meanwhile, Tehran ‘choked’ Hormuz after US, Israel jointly launched attack against Iran On Feb 28.
