ANI News India needs stronger data frameworks, investor push to scale AI: Co-founder of AI4India

India has vast public and consumer data, but without the right frameworks, much of its artificial intelligence potential remains untapped. Speaking to ANI ahead of the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, AI4India co-founder Alok Agrawal said structuring and enriching local data is crucial to building inclusive AI models suited to India’s diverse population. Agrawal highlighted the need for sovereign AI models that empower people rather than displace jobs, distinguishing India’s approach from that of the U.S. and China. He also flagged concerns around data privacy, deepfakes, fraud, and unresolved copyright issues linked to AI-generated content, urging policymakers and investors to move faster as technology evolves. The five-day India-AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 16–20 in New Delhi, will bring together policymakers, researchers, startups, and industry leaders to shape an inclusive AI ecosystem for India and the Global South.
