US Navy deployment to Puerto Rico: Residents hope fleet will help bail out economy
With the US pursuing a drone campaign against alleged drug smugglers in the Caribbean, the US territory of Puerto Rico is preparing to host 15,000 troops at a recently reopened base. The facility originally closed more than two decades ago, and its departure blunted the local economy. There’s hope now that the new deployment will infuse local businesses with cash.
