US envoy holds talks with Lebanese leaders in push for Hezbollah to give up its weapons
The United States is pushing for Lebanon-based Hezbollah to give up its weapons.
US Envoy Tom Barrack is in Beirut for talks with Lebanese leaders.
The Lebanese government has ordered the army to ensure all weapons are under the state’s control by the end of the year.
It’s one of the conditions of a US-brokered deal.
It also requires Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon.
