Rubio hails ‘good progress’ on US-led Gaza plan after talks with Netanyahu
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Rubio’s visit comes hours after Vice President JD Vance departed.
The US Secretary of State has stressed that “good progress” is being made on the US-led Gaza plan, but acknowledged that more work needs to be done.
“We feel confident and positive about the progress that’s being made. We’re clear-eyed about the challenges, too. But the president has made this a top priority,” said Rubio, noting that other senior US officials also visited Israel this week.
“I’m here now today because this is a priority. It’s a very important achievement but there’s more work to be done and bigger achievements that lie ahead. So we’re here to work on that,” he said.
The Israeli prime minister has said his government and the Trump administration enjoy “a circle of trust and partnership” as he welcomed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for talks in Jerusalem.
