Madagascar’s military seizes power: Michael Randrianirina sworn in as president
The leader of the military unit that seized power in Madagascar has been sworn in as President, just three days after Ange Rajawell was ousted. Colonel Michael Randrianirina has announced the military has taken charge, after weeks of youth-led protests triggered by shortages of water and electricity. The former leader has fled the country, citing concerns for his safety.

Al Jazeera’s Fahmida Miller reports from Antananarivo.
