Lebanese farmers harvest olives under UN watch near volatile Israeli border
Olive harvesting has resumed in southern Lebanon for the first time in two years, despite ongoing tensions along the Israeli border.
Farmers are only allowed to work under UN peacekeeper supervision, who notify the Israeli army of their presence.
Even with a ceasefire, safety remains uncertain, and Lebanese army escorts provide limited protection.
Frontline villages remain in ruins, with homes destroyed and reconstruction yet to begin.
Many residents recount lives marked by repeated displacement and hardship.
Israel continues to target construction facilities, alleging Hezbollah links and halting rebuilding efforts.
Still, farmers persist in returning to their land, determined to protect their livelihoods.

Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reports from southern Lebanon.
