Israel takes ‘full responsibility’ for attack on Hamas in Qatar, Netanyahu says
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has said the decision to attack Hamas leaders in Qatar was an independent Israeli decision and “we take full responsibility” for the attack.
Speaking at a joint news conference with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem, Netanyahu also said Israel and the United States will continue to act together to protect the two countries.
Rubio’s visit to Israel comes amid tensions with fellow US allies in the Middle East over Israel’s strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar and expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Al Jazeera’s Hamdah Salhut is monitoring developments in Amman.
She’s there because the Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting from Israel and the occupied West Bank.
