Israel may no longer accept ceasefire proposal after push for release of all captives: Analysis
In an interview with Al Jazeera, former Egyptian assistant foreign minister Hussein Haridy stated that Israel may reject the current ceasefire proposal accepted by Hamas, despite it being “almost identical” to one Israel itself agreed to weeks earlier. He suggested both the US administration and Israeli government now prioritise the release of all hostages before considering further steps, rather than partial deals. Haridy emphasised that timing was critical, questioning why Hamas hadn’t accepted the terms earlier. He noted that the situation had shifted significantly in six weeks, with Israel now planning a major offensive on Gaza City and the US-Israeli position increasingly aligned on the need to defeat Hamas. “The game has changed a little bit,” Haridy concluded, indicating Israel likely no longer supports the previously agreed deal.
