Incumbent President Ouattara declared winner of Ivory Coast election
Alassane Ouattara has secured a landslide victory in the Presidential election in Ivory Coast.
Official results show the 83-year-old incumbent won nearly 90 per cent of the vote.
His main contender, former Ivory Coast commerce minister, Jean-Louis Billon, had already conceded defeat.
Both of Ouattara’s key political rivals were barred from standing in the election which prompted opposition calls for people not to participate.
