Ceasefire, global pressure prompt Israel’s tactical Gaza shift: Analysis
Hamas says it’s expanding its search for the 13 remaining bodies of Israeli captives in Gaza.
The group is working with Red Cross and Egyptian teams, who have been allowed to search behind the Israeli military line.
Under the US-brokered ceasefire, it’s expected to return all the remains as soon as possible.
The limited heavy machinery that has entered Gaza is being used for the operation to recover the Israeli captives’ remains.
But the bodies of thousands of Palestinians are also buried under the rubble.
Many people have been using their bare hands and basic tools to look for their loved ones.
Zeidon Alkinani, a Lecturer in Middle Eastern Politics at Georgetown University in Qatar, says ceasefire and mounting global pressure are forcing Israel to shift its tactics in Gaza, as international teams join efforts to recover captives’ bodies and debates grow over Gaza’s future administration.
