Al Jazeera English Thailand frees 18 Cambodian soldiers as part of ceasefire deal

Thailand has released 18 Cambodian soldiers it captured in July as part of a new ceasefire deal.
A large crowd greeted the soldiers as they arrived in Cambodia’s western Pailin province.
Both countries signed the ceasefire on Saturday.
The agreement ended three weeks of renewed cross-border fighting that killed more than a hundred people and displaced around a million.
Al Jazeera’s Assed Baig has more from Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province, near the border with Thailand.
Ja Ian Chong is Associate Professor of political science at the National University of Singapore.
He says the dispute between Thailand and Cambodia runs deep and the potential for hostilities remain.
