Al Jazeera English Syria ceasefire extension hides SDF tensions; civilians will pay the price: Analysis

An initial four-day ceasefire between the Syrian Army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has been extended by a further 15 days.
It follows two weeks in which the army managed to seize several former SDF strongholds in the north and east of the country.
The group says it is committed to the US-brokered agreement.
Labib Nahhas, a Syrian political analyst, told Al Jazeera that the 15-day ceasefire extension reflects uncertainty within the SDF leadership.
He says the group has not yet decided how to deal with its agreement with the Syrian government.
Nahhas points to deep divisions between PKK-linked factions and more moderate elements within the SDF.
He says no clear decision has been taken since the deal was announced.
According to Nahhas, there have been no meaningful confidence-building measures with Damascus.
He says recent communication between both sides has been dominated by mutual accusations.
Nahhas says this lack of trust has stalled progress on implementing the agreement.
He warns the delay risks increasing tensions on the ground.
Nahhas adds that without clear implementation, civilians are likely to bear the consequences.
