Al Jazeera English Pakistan army orders Tirah valley evacuation ahead of military offensive on armed groups

Pakistan’s military has launched a major operation against the Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups in the remote Tira Valley bordering Afghanistan.
Tens of thousands of residents have been forced to flee under harsh winter conditions, with many stranded in heavy snow and freezing temperatures.
Evacuees have criticised the provincial government for failing to provide promised assistance, leaving them without food or shelter.
The military says it will implement a “clear, hold, build and transfer” strategy to prevent militants from returning after operations conclude.
