Al Jazeera English Kremlin took action in Ukraine after the EU ignored Moscow’s security concerns: Analysis

Russian foreign policy analyst Andrey Kortunov believes “the territorial dimension is not the most important one” in the conflict in Ukraine.
“Of course, it is something the Russian leadership can claim as a victory – that Russia will have four more regions and a additional couple of million people,” he told Al Jazeera from Moscow.
Kortunov said that the Russian leadership maintains that “the West ignored Russia’s interests” and it was “marginalised in the European security system”.
According to the analyst, Moscow believed NATO was expanding to Russia’s borders and this movement had to be stopped.
